Bonn, Germany (2018)
company outing for the employees of AWO Bonn Rhein-Sieg e.V. at Waldau in cooperation with biologist Dr. Inge Steinmetz and artist Anna Thinius
The Waldau, nestled in the heart of the Bonn city forest, stands as a picturesque part of the Venusberg neighborhood on the southern slope of the eponymous mountain. Serving as the northernmost extension of the Kottenforst, this natural haven provides an ideal backdrop for immersive experiences connecting nature, science, and art.
In collaboration with biologist Dr. Inge Steinmetz and artist Anna Thinius, we crafted a distinctive team outing for 170 employees of AWO Bonn Rhein-Sieg, themed „Tree and Soil.“ The participants embarked on a journey through nine experiential stations seamlessly blending elements of biology and art.
The participants engaged in a range of captivating activities at nine stations, including:
ZOOlympic Games: A playful and competitive exploration of nature-inspired challenges.
Pointillism Painting: Unleashing creativity by painting in the distinctive style of Pointillism.
Blind Clay Sculpting in Groups: Fostering teamwork and creativity through the tactile exploration of clay.
Brush Workshop: Within the Brush Workshop, I demonstrated the art of carving a simple brush handle from Lindenwood. The handle offers a versatile platform for attaching various materials, such as leaves, grass, and feathers, transforming it into a personalized artistic tool.
The „Baum und Boden“ team outing proved to be a harmonious blend of science and art, offering AWO Bonn Rhein-Sieg’s employees a unique opportunity to connect with nature and each other. The Waldau provided an idyllic setting for this immersive experience, fostering a sense of appreciation for the environment while encouraging creativity and teamwork.
