Bonn, Germany (2016)
participatory project in public space in cooperation with biologist Dr. Inge Steinmetz and artist Anna Thinius, funded by the Quartiersmanagement Tannenbusch
ready for nature
The participatory project aimed to recycle discarded materials in an artistic manner and create a sculpture with the residents of Tannenbusch. The car tires, which constitute the majority of the sculpture, all originate from Tannenbusch and were painted by the participating children. Employees of the housing associations and the „Hexenhaus“ kindergarten provided assistance. While excavating the foundation, participants had the opportunity to explore living organisms using magnifying beakers under the expert guidance of Dr. Inge Steinmetz. In the final step, the tires were filled with excavated material and potting soil, and planted together.
