face to face

Bonn, Germany (2018)
interdisciplinary and multimedia art project in the urban space of Bonn-Tannenbusch, funded by the Ministry of Culture of North Rhine-Westphalia, Deutsche Annington/Vonovia and the City of Bonn (Department of Social Affairs and Housing)

Faces, life worlds, and worldviews from Bonn-Tannenbusch: Residents from the neighborhood of Tannenbusch and artists engaged in an intermedial dialogue, creating meeting points through the medium of art.

Individual perspectives, both literal and metaphorical ‚portraits‘, were to be expressed and transformed into aesthetic forms. Artists worked across various mediums including performance, photography, portrait painting, drawing and public space intervention.

The art project took place within the overarching concept „Auf links gedreht,“ aimed at contributing to the transformation of the marginalized neighborhood. For the first time, Somali writer Lul Autenrieb and her organization „International Women and Family Forum“ were involved in this process.

Together with artists Julia Glatzel and Anna Thielmann, I organized the workshop „Masks,“ focusing on children’s creativity, realization of their own ideas, and experimentation under artistic guidance. Crafting a mask means playing – with materials, with identity.

In the group exhibition „FACE TO FACE“ in January 2018 at KunstRaum Tannenbusch, the fluorescent masks were presented as a floating installation in a dark room, illuminated by blacklight.
